Spring Cleaning-Mud room

Finally started my Spring cleaning!  I made a list of projects I wanted to get done and decided to start with my mud room. I am so grateful that we were able to add a mud room space when we did our home addition several years ago.  It is right off our garage and is the way we mainly enter our home.  I decluttered, straightened and reorganize the whole room.

 And the after.....ahhhh so much nicer!

 We each have a basket to store items like keys, sunglasses and wallets.  Pegs for purses, backpacks and sport bags.

We each have a basket or drawer in the closet for our hats, gloves and scarves. 

I love walking in there now that it is all organized and clean!  Off to the next space in my home to Spring clean....our game room!

Craft area reorganization

My craft area is in a small hallway at the top of our stair well upstairs.  It is a perfect little spot that I am so lucky to have but it needed some tweaking. 

It had become a dumping ground for all sorts of stuff.  I  wasn't able to use the area effectively any longer and it was irritating to look at each time I passed it.  

   I am keeping it real with these before photos......

So tell me I am not the only one that has areas of their home that are a hot mess!!!

And here it is now.....ahhhhhh so much better!! I have actually used it several times since cleaning and reorganizing it!

Spring cleaning has begun around here.  Trying to take it one task at a time and not get overwhelmed by all I want to do this Spring!

Snow Day......minus the snow

 

We were supposed to have a big snow storm.  Well ,we got almost no snow at all, so the storm was a bust.  I worked on some small projects around the house.  And we made some cookies because you have to make cookies on a snow day....even a snow day with no snow right??  Here is the recipe for the really awesome cookies.  They are a bit more work than regular chocolate chip but totally worth the extra effort.

A little rescue work

So I have wanted to do something to help dogs for a long time.  I   always had reasons why now wasn't the right time.  Well at the end of the summer of 2012 my daughter encouraged/nagged me to apply to be a foster for a local dog rescue.  We did just that and brought home this very scared girl soon after.

Even though she was scared of EVERYTHING when she first came to us....she is the sweetest dog.  It took some time to overcome her fear.  She still can be scared in some situations, but she has come so far in a few months.  We all grew to love her and well.......

Well we were foster failures!  

Here is a recent picture of her....doesn't she look different? We are so glad that she is part of the family now.  We are continuing to foster.....more on that in another post.

Office Drawer in Kitchen....Get organized

Office Drawer in the Kitchen

One of the best ideas I had when we were doing our remodel was to add this cabinet to our kitchen design.  It looks like a two drawer cabinet from the outside but inside is has  hidden drawer. I utilize this as a mini office in the kitchen.

It has our family calendar, note paper, post its, stapler, scissors, tape, pens, pencils, glue, ruler and much more!  I have organized it using containers to keep the area tidy.  It works most of the time!

New Year....getting organized and blogging

I never intended to be away from blogging this long. I did a blog makeover and then stop blogging.....not the smartest move ever!! But with the New Year upon us I really want to get back to blogging regularly again.  

I have made some goals for the New Year........yeah the same old ones from every year eat better, exercise, drink more water......yadda yadda yadda!

But some of the other areas I would like to focus on are completing home projects and crafts that have been on my to do list for FAR too long.  Also, more consistent menu planning.  Continue to organize my home.  Use what we have and if we don't love or use it....let it go!  

Enjoy the moments more!  Have more fun!  Just enjoy life!

Granola

I have been trying to eat a bit healthier and move more! So I have been eating yogurt, fruit and granola for breakfast.  Granola is wayyyyyy pricey at the grocery store. So I decided to make my own.  So easy and delicious. You can add whatever you like to it nuts or dried fruit. I like is simple just oatmeal and nuts.
